At the end of the last Fall Out Boy tour Stump stopped by Daryl Hall's online show Live From Daryl's House where he performed with Hall (of the world famous Hall and Oates). Stump played Fall Out Boy songs (a couple from behind the drum kit), a couple songs from the Hall and Oates catalogue, and a cover of the Jimmy Ruffin classic "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted." Full Title: FALL OUT BOY'S PATRICK STUMP AND DARYL HALL GET THEIR GROOVE ON LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE NOV. 15

NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2009- Fall Out Boy vocalist Patrick Stump writes most of the music for his platinum-plus Chicago rock band, but he's also a closet R&B/soul fan who has produced tracks for fellow Windy City rapper Lupe Fiasco, and is a longtime fan of Daryl Hall's music, which makes him the perfect guest for the 25th and latest installment of Live From Daryl's House, available starting Nov. 15 at www.lfdh.com.

"As a musician, I can't fathom a show more fun to play than Live From Daryl's House," says Stump about his experience playing with Daryl and his band, including T-Bone Wolk, on the web series.

"Patrick Stump is one soulful vocalist," says Daryl admiringly. "I was really impressed with his grasp of R&B and it turned out we shared a love for a great deal of the same music."

As a producer, Stump has worked with such bands as Gym Class Heroes, whose vocalist Travis McCoy is also an unabashed Daryl Hall fan and a participant in a previous Live From Daryl's House. Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman calls him "a musical genius, a mad scientist," while noted producer/performer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds says, "Patrick is one of the hottest dudes I've seen in a long time… He's got a great voice and a tremendous amount of talent." Fall Out Boy's fifth album, Folie a Deux, was released last December, producing the hit singles, "I Don't Care" and "America's Suitehearts."

Stump puts that great voice straight to work, joining Daryl in a seven-song set highlighted by singles "Out of Touch" and "Guessing Games," the latter from the H2O album.  Among the Fall Out Boy songs Daryl and Patrick perform are versions of "I Don't Care," "What a Catch, Donny" and "Sugar, We're Goin Down" along with a cover of Jimmy Ruffin's soul classic, "What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted."

Past episodes of Live from Daryl's House have featured a mix of well-known performers like Smokey Robinson, The Doors' Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek, Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Todd Rundgren, Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy, Finger Eleven's James Black and Rick Jackett and the Bacon Brothers, along with newcomers such as Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo, MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson, Cash Money rocker Kevin Rudolf, Wind-up Records' Chicago rockers Company of Thieves, Bay Area singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson, Charlottesville, Va's rising Parachute, Chicago rock band Plain White T's and highly touted tunesmith Diane Birch.

Live from Daryl's House started with Daryl's "light-bulb moment" idea of "playing music with my friends and putting it up on the Internet," and the show has subsequently been praised by such varied media outlets as Rolling Stone, Spin, Daily Variety, CNN, BBC, Yahoo and the influential Lefsetz Letter.

Patrick Stump recently updated his blog with what he'll be doing while Fall Out Boy is taking a break. His entry can be found below.

"Patrick Stump performed a solo set mostly of covers with an as-of-yet unnamed backing band as his old high school, Glenbrook South in his hometown of Glenview Illinios. The performance was for local charity donating canned foods to needy families.

Currently Stump is in the studio beginning work on several musical projects including a new album for California MC Murs, new music with Las Vegas band The Cab, and a solo recording with legendary producer Pete Asher for an upcoming compilation album."

:bulletblue: Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump shares high school experience with Glenbrook South students

With a spotlight aimed center stage, Patrick Stump sits alone, strumming a guitar and belting out songs in that all-too-familiar singing voice as hundreds of eyes are glued on him.

Being on stage is anything but foreign to Stump, who has performed all over the world as the lead singer of the Grammy-award winning pop-punk band Fall Out Boy. But the 25-year-old Stump returned to Glenview for a special performance on the one of the first stages he ever made music on—in Glenbrook South High School’s auditorium.

Stump, a Glenview native and 2002 graduate, made a homecoming appearance at GBS Oct. 30, speaking to students and faculty at two assemblies. Stump also performed Oct. 31 at Foodstock, a concert for Glenbrook South and Glenbrook North students in light of their canned food drive, in which students set the new world record for the largest can stack.

Though Stump said he spends most of his time in Los Angeles, he never really moved out of Glenview—he returns home to visit as much as possible. He said his upbringing in Glenview was a lot different than teens today.

“I think it’s really interesting as how much it’s changed, how much the town’s changed,” Stump said. “The Glenview I grew up in was a very different place. It seemed a bit more working class. It was built around the naval air base—that was kind of more of a cultural fixture-with the fact that none of your friends would be sticking around very long.”

During the assemblies, Stump sat on stage with GBS Activities Director Jim Shellard, who coordinated Stump’s appearance, and the two participated in a Q-and-A session. Donning a while, button-up shirt with black skinny jeans, silver shoes and his signature hat, Stump’s look was a far cry from his high school days, when he sported spiky hair, baggy jeans and long chains.

“I’m very impressed with who he is,” said Glenbrook South principal Brian Wegley. “We’re all just so proud of his talent and success, and it shows a lot about who he is to come back and do this for us. You can tell he enjoyed his time here. The teachers who had him have nothing but nice things to say about having him in their classes.”

He reflected on his high school experience, reminiscing about his days in Paradox, a performing arts troupe and his heavy involvement in music, being a radio show host and a regular performer in battle of the bands, coffee house events, the variety show and in countless bands outside of school.

“I don’t really know about where music comes from for me,” he said. “It’s one of those things. I don’t think of it as a thing, it’s just something I do, I’ve always done it, I’ve always had it. I just remember the thing that was cool for me being here, was that I was able to utilize, my, I guess, obsession. I would blow off every free period and sneak into the orchestra room to play the upright basses. I would play piano.”

But, despite his involvement in school activities, Stump admits he rarely, if ever, did his homework.
“I didn’t do, like, any homework for like, four years,” he said. “The thing I was focusing on was music. I was playing shows at least once a week anywhere—basements and bars and places I wasn’t old enough to get into.”

Stump said he had no agenda with his homecoming appearance and was not there to promote anything and was happy to contribute to the students’ efforts to break a world record and raise money for the Northfield Township Food Pantry.

Foodstock was held Saturday, Oct. 31 at GBS, and six student bands performed along with a solo performance by Stump. Money from concert ticket sales was donated to the food pantry.

“Glenview’s a surprisingly motivated area, and I think I went to a pretty awesome public school,” Stump said. “With the whole Foodstock thing, it shows how motivated the kids are and how motivated the community is. The thing I love about the area is that we are relatively giving. It’s important to note how giving of an area it is.”

Stump performed songs on acoustic guitar for the crowds, including favorites like his own “Dance, Dance” and even Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” Stump then sang a song with music by the GBS jazz band and even took to the drums for a jazz rendition of “Sweet Home Chicago.”

Wegley said he was most impressed by Stump’s humbleness, considering Fall Out Boy’s global success.

“When I’m in Hollywood, I go to Target like everybody else,” Stump said. “Being humble is a virtue.”

“He was always a talented kid,” said jazz band director Greg Wojcik. “We’re very proud of his career, but more of the person he’s become. It’s just wonderful that he was able to tell students about his high school experience today, because it wasn’t too long ago he was sitting where they are now.”

Whenever he comes back to the area, Stump said he always makes sure to get Chicago-style pizza, whether it be Giordano’s or Lou Malnati’s, and this time, he wanted to pay a visit to P.J. Moondoggie’s.
Despite his work being mostly Los Angeles-based, Stump said he will always think of Chicago as home.

“I’m happy to have grown up here,” he said. “I don’t ever want to find myself living permanent outside of the Chicagoland area. It’s my home.”

A tongue-in-cheek, satirical look at a group of unabashedly pompous and misled young artists. Overwhelmed by the naivety and selfishness of his best friend, Casper (Ryan Key, lead singer of the band Yellowcard), Eugene (Patrick Stump) searches for truth, integrity, and/or a blueberry milkshake.

Joe Wilson thinks the proposed health care reform would provide health care to illegal immigrants in spite of the already enacted Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 already prohibits illegal immigrants from utilizing federal programs. This also misleads in implying that there is something in the proposed health care reform that suggests illegal immigrants would  be allowed to receive treatment, which is false on Joe Wilson's part. Furthermore, there would be no reason to write into an act what was already written into another, I.E. to further illegalize that which is already illegal on a federal level.

Kanye West thinks Beyonce, who's video "Single Ladies," was great.

Joe Wilson refuses to apologize more than once for interrupting the undisputed elected President of the United States of America by insinuating that he was lying in the middle of his speech, a feat hitherto unheard of in American politics. While rightly more apologies would simply distract from the debate at hand, the public pronouncing of the end to his apologies also distracts from the debate and instead belies a strong partisanship and lack of desire for compromise.

Kanye West has, to date, apologized at least three times publicly (and countless times privately).

Joe Wilson is an elected official.

Kanye West was drunk.

Please stop comparing the two, and if you must be outraged by someone, regardless of your politics please be outraged by Joe Wilson. What he did shows a profound disrespect for the office he holds as well as the office of president. What Kanye did was simply a stupid drunken act of a stupid drunken citizen. I will always remain a fan of his music, just not always a fan of his actions. That said I'm not sure Kanye is currently a fan of his own actions and I'm not always a fan of my own.

As for Taylor Swift, I never take my hat off but hats off to you. If you keep writing songs like that you'll have way more award acceptance speeches to look forward to.

PS. On an unrelated note, I have elected to no longer update this site in a blog capacity (as you may have already noticed with the above being a final exception). As a parting shot I'd like to clarify three things: 1) I do not nor will I ever have or operate in any capacity any form of social networking site or device (e.g. Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, etc.) Should you find one claiming to be me, it is and any information included within, without question false. As future sites and devices come out, expect me to not participate with them. 2) In liu of social networking, I have decided to, in the future, publicly express myself exclusively through my artistic pursuits. 3) Expect some big changes to this site (a very minor update in October, followed by a much bigger one) as well as some news from me. Thank you, and have a good autumn.

Fall Out Boy Singer Talks About Arrest At Reading And Leeds

Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump has spoken to Rock Sound after he was arrested in Hollywood earlier this week.

"I was handcuffed on Hollywood Boulevard which is so unbelievably obnoxious," he said laughing. "I was not read my rights though which was disappointingly different to the movies I'd seen. When I got to the station they took my shoes and belt off me and asked if I was suicidal. I got bailed and got on a plane over here!"

Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump On His Arrest: 'Man, Is Mom Gonna Be Pissed!'
Singer was arrested for driving without a valid license.
By James Montgomery

Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump has now officially done hard time. Four hours of it!

Late Tuesday night, Stump was arrested in West Hollywood, California, after a Beverly Hills court issued a traffic warrant for his arrest. He had been driving without a valid license, a misdemeanor offense in the state of California that Britney Spears was charged with in 2007, though she argued her primary residence was Louisiana. Her case was eventually declared a mistrial.

According to TMZ.com, Stump was taken to the West Hollywood Sherriff's station, where he had his mug shot taken He was released at around 4:30 a.m. after posting $15,000 bail.

"All I really have to say is ignorance of the law isn't innocence," Stump told MTV News approximately 90 minutes after he posted bail. "I didn't want to give up my Illinois driver's license and was unaware that was a crime. It is, by the way, in the state of California. Lesson learned. I technically broke a law, so technically I deserve whatever I get. But man, is my mom gonna be pissed."

If convicted of the misdemeanor charge, Stump could face a maximum of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. At press time, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department had yet to assign an arraignment date for the singer's case.

He also could possibly be grounded by his mom.
